Fabrication shop with portal frame rafters on welding jigs

Steel Building Procurement Services

We coordinate supplier matching, quotation comparison, samples, inspection, consolidation and export for pre-engineered steel buildings sourced in China. Each service produces a record the buyer can review before authorizing the next step.

Three work packages, one project number

Design-basis review

The request starts with a dated design basis. Record project jurisdiction, occupancy, clear span and eave height in metres, and wind and snow inputs with the units and reference basis provided by the project engineer. A wind speed can refer to different averaging periods or terrain assumptions. Ask each bidder to identify the exact load standard and edition in its proposal and route unresolved questions to the buyer’s engineer.

Shop and weld records

Use the same bill of materials for every quote. Separate the portal frame, secondary steel, bolts, cladding, delivery and any erection assistance. If an alternative grade is offered, record the plate thickness, yield requirement and mill certificate reference. Coordinate samples of finishes or sandwich panels against the intended submittal. The buyer decides whether to accept substitutions after technical review.

Site sequence

Agree an inspection brief before committing to inspection dates. For a bolted splice, the brief can call for piece-mark checks and hole-gauge verification against the current drawing. For welded knees, specify which welding procedure and examination records the inspector should request. Track the inspection lot and document revision, so a result can be traced to the bundle that ships.

Four gates before steel is cut

Every quotation should show which inputs were supplied by the buyer, which remain assumptions and which require supplier confirmation. Record changes as a new revision before comparing totals again.

  1. Criteria freeze

Confirm the shipping destination, use, envelope and design criteria before sending a common request.

  2. Model and reactions

Ask each shortlisted supplier for a price breakdown and the exclusions behind its proposed scope.

  3. Piece marks

Arrange sample review and define the hold points for third-party inspection.

  4. Packing and lift plan

Match the supplier packing list to the dispatch schedule and check handoff documents with the appointed forwarder.

Schedule consolidation around packing readiness rather than a single estimated fabrication date. Verify bundle length, gross mass and loading orientation before freight is booked. A 40HQ loading plan must use the actual shipping pieces and handling limits supplied for the order.

What the transmittal does and does not do

Confirm the commercial delivery term and named place before comparing freight figures. Quotes with different inland transport, duties or unloading assumptions should be tracked separately.

Supplier management certificates, structural calculations and permits serve distinct purposes. Check the certificate scope and issuing body for the selected fabrication location. Local project compliance remains with the professionals assigned to the project.

Ask for the service scope in writing

Inspection coordination helps the buyer receive observations and track corrective actions. Fabrication acceptance, technical sign-off and payment release belong to the parties identified in the purchase contract.

  • Design wind speed and snow load, with units.
  • Seismic design category or the PGA the local engineer will use.
  • Clear span, eave height, crane class if any.
  • Envelope: PIR, EPS or rock wool, and the fire strategy for the whole wall.
Submission stores a project inquiry. It does not stamp a calculation or secure a building permit. See the Privacy Policy.
